‘Find a New Job’ is one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions and has always been the busiest time for recruiters. If you are amongst the January crowd and looking for a new role, how do you stand out? Now is the time to really launch the inner sales person and market yourself to get noticed! Here are our top tips!
What’s your USP?
Spend some time thinking about what makes you different from your peers. What are your strengths, passions and goals? Highlight your Achievements not just your responsibilities. Tailor your USP for each company you apply for. Parts of your USP will be good for one company, but not another.
Know your target audience
Know the company inside and out before you apply, understand their vision, values and company ethos and ensure your application, is similar to this Ethos. They want to see on paper that you are a perfect match for their company. Make sure you target the right roles, so if you have 15 years in B2B sales, don’t apply for Customer Service jobs.
Add some personality
Whilst companies want to know if you can do the job, they’ll want to know how you will fit into the office culture. Recruiters will be inundated with CVS in January so don’t be afraid to add a personal touch to your application. What are your interests, do you have any personal skills worth mentioning? This is your opportunity to persuade the company you are right for this position.
