What a great day at the Utility Week HR Forum yesterday!  The event was packed full of inspirational men and women all with the same objective – making the Utility Industry a better place to work.

Nick Ellins Chief Executive officer from Energy & Utility skills kicked off the event by sharing the EU Skills strategies for the future, which focused on the skills shortage and how HR can help manage the issue.  He was followed by a series of inspirational HR professionals, all discussing important issues such as how to inspire the younger generation, tackling diversity in the work place, the impact of digitalisation, and recruiting and retaining talent.

It was great to chat to all the many people that came to visit our stand to find out about our whitepapers, and to listen to their views on the skills shortage and retaining employees.

The message from the event was quite clear – collaboration and partnership was needed if we are all to succeed in fixing the issues we have in the industry. As speaker Chris Mead from Cadent commented ‘It’s a long challenge but we need to be fit for the marathon and work together to make it to the finish line’.

I really look forward to catching up with everyone I met at the event and exchanging ideas to make the Utility Industry even better.
